Hi Leslie, I totally agree. All the free blogging sites like wordpress.com have their value, but for anyone serious about it, having your own self-hosted blog on your own domain is essential. With the free blogs, you never know when they might change things and you lose everything you put into it. With your own blog, it’s yours to do with as you please.
